Tales Of Precious Pets
And Puppy Dog Tails!
 AIR
GURU Kevin Maple, who makes all the social ladies
beautiful, teamed up with Penny and Jay Lieberman to
host book signing for their great pal Dr. Tom De Vicentis and
his Tails of the City. Over a hundred guests swarmed through
Kevin’s beautifully decorated home (which has already been
featured in several magazine spreads) while nibbling on tasty treats
like mini croquet monsieur from master chef Brent Newsome.
Everyone
couldn’t wait to peruse his chronicles of life in the city as New
York’s celebrity veterinarian. The book is a delightfully charming
read that will have animal lovers smiling at the sweet
"tails" he writes about.
A preface by Carolyn
Roehm and illustrations by the brilliant Bill Charmatz
compliment Tom’s tender and insightful stories about the effect of
our furry friends on our lives make this tome simply lovely. With
endorsements by the likes of Town & Country editor Pamela
Fiori, the book is sure to be a best seller.
Kevin, the
consummate host, greeted his guests with his mother Pat Maple
at his side. In the crowd were Amy and Richard Plum, Peter
Hallock and Craig Mowry, Lisa Lieberman, John
Haigney and his twin James Haigney, CFDA’s Stan
Herman, John Wegorzewski, Mary Ellen Winston, and
scores of Kevin’s fellow riders from the Smithtown Hunt Club.

Spring Fling at Parrish
 OU
definitely know when summer is right around the corner when the
Parrish Art Museum holds its official launch of the coming season,
the annual Spring Fling. It brought out one of the largest crowds in
the history of the gala, thanks to co-chairs Nancy Hardy and Susan
Davis and their hard-working vice chairs Christine Curiale,
Leslie Halsted, Leith McLoughlin, Robin Pauli,
and Maryanne Robinson.
The Saturday
Night Fever theme encouraged lots of folks to pull out their 1970s
disco wear in all its shiny polyester glory – just the right thing
to hit the dance floor and get into the groove.
Newly
appointed executive director Terrie Sultan and Alicia
Longwell, the Lewis B. and Dorothy B. Cullman Curator, were on
hand to point out highlights of the student art on display.
Doing their
best Travolta moves were Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley
and wife Maryanne, Shaunagh Byrne, Joy Marks, Jeanette
Hekton, Neill Slaughter, Keith and Anne Davis,
John Brancati, Ernest Cervi, Meegan Darby, Jeanine
Edington, Anese Young, Dr. Martin and Blossom
Gluck, Davis Gaffga, Dr. Evan and Bonnie Nadal,
Bernard Green, Alison Sneed, Jackie Worth, Elliot
Epstein, Stephanie Finkelstein, Patricia Garrity, Rick
Hoffman, Roberta O. Hunter, Michael Kent, Gary
Lawrance, Michaela Keszler, Nancy Blasko, Karli
Kittine, Robin L. Long, Beth E. Marano, Alexis Mayer,

RODUCER
Patricia Watt is back from France where Mark Mitchell's
film Liszt for President or en francais, Votre ou Mourir
(Vote or Die), won best English speaking film at the ECU Film
Festival, aka the European Independent Film Festival at the
Bibliotheque Mitterand in Paris.
Marisa
Berenson liked the film so much they are adding a scene with
her, says producer Watt. Berenson will play the mistress of the
French president, portrayed by Count Alexandre DeLesseps,
whose wife, LuAnn DeLesseps, is a star of the The Real
Housewives of New York on Bravo.

Haim
Mizrahi and Joan Zandell |
Gallery Going
ENAISSANCE
man Haim Mizrahi returned from his annual stint in his native
Israel with a new perspective and trunks full of new works created
while he was in Jerusalem. The prolific artist showed off his latest
efforts in a show entitled, "Clean as a Whistler."
The event was
not simply an exhibition but an art happening with music, poetry
readings and lively discussions. The NYC Jazz Trio of Yaaki Levy,
Bob Bowen and Justin Wert kept the music cool and easy.
Occasionally, Haim would break away from his guests to read one of
his poems to a soft musical accompaniment.
The published
poet and composer never ceases to amaze the art community with his
many talents. And it wouldn’t be a "Haim Happening"
without plenty of percussion provided by his drumming circle pals.
On hand to
admire his new mixed media works were Michael Cardacino, Rosalind
Brenner, Frank Sofo and Jana and Jim Hayden, Teri and
Kevin Kennedy, Abby Abrams, Dana Dolan, Sherry Schreiber, Spencer
Michlim, Dan Becker, Stephen Finkel, Arie Goldberg, Susie Mandelbaum,
Alfredo Morat and Zaza.

Mega Star Wattage for Hamptons
 EW
YORK and Hamptons hostesses are rushing to add to their address
books – and benefit invitation
lists – some
big names who have recently chosen to summer on the East End Golden
Riviera. In recent
weeks, Michael
J. Fox and wife Tracy Pollan and their brood have set up
house in a classic Quogue manse and Tiger Woods and his
beautiful wife Elin have reportedly snared Marty Richards
and Mary Lea Johnson’s fabulous By the Sea on Gin
Lane.
What do you
get when you combine a gifted composer and hands-on parent with a
bunch of bright kids eager to learn music? On the East End, that
combo spells Bruce Wolosoff and the Hayground School Creative
Orchestra, the successful outgrowth of an intensive three-week
musical composition workshop for kids from 6 to 13. For the fourth
year in a row, Bruce was composer in residence and conducted a free
concert.
A much
respected composer, Wolosoff has focused on opera in recent years,
composing for the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York and
members of the Royal Danish Opera.
He completed Songs
without Words, a large scale set of pieces scored for amplified
string quartet, for the Carpe Diem String Quartet. At the conclusion
of his Hayground residency, Wolosoff began scoring the feature film Iron
Cross, a revenge thriller written and directed by Joshua
Newton that was Roy Scheider’s last film (the late
actor and Hayground co-founder was a close personal friend of the
Wolosoffs).
