Living in Style
EW YORK’S fashionable style setters
gathered at the chic Assouline Book Shop overlooking the sumptuously
redesigned Champagne Gallery at the Plaza Hotel to toast boyish
looking California interior design whiz Barclay Butera on the
publication of a gorgeous new book of his work,
Barclay Butera:
Living in Style, by
Assouline Publishing.
The beautiful tome features breathtaking views of
Barclay’s enormous talent including sections on his own former
residences, many of which were owned by celebrities including
Desi
Arnaz, Jr.’s Beverly Hills home,
Frank Sinatra's estate in
the desert and a Bette Davis cottage by the sea.
Paging through the presentations it is no surprise
that Barclay, the darling of interior design fans from the Hamptons to
Palm beach to Aspen, has been recognized as one the country’s most
important young talents.
Raising their champagne flutes to Barclay were
Robert Verdi, Grace Meigher, Lydia
Fenet, Jason Oliver Nixon,
Robert Zimmerman, Lori and Ron Sheldon, Betsy Nixon,
artists Julie Harvey and
Goldine Eisman, publisher
Ian Shapolsky, Kyle Timothy Blood,
Lauren Bennett, Bianca Mead,
Elisabeth Saint Amand and restaurateur
Alison Becker.

Sinfully Rich And
Heart
Healthy
HE annual Heart of the Hamptons Summer
Gala cane up with a unique twist on the committee pre-event cocktail
party. This year Barbara Poliwoda and her team at the American
Heart Association invited supporters to judge the sweet confections
created by six of the area’s top chefs and select one that would be
served at the summer fete. Each of the desserts had to meet strict
heart healthy guidelines—no fat ir heavy sugars and cholesterol free.
The winner was a decadent no-animal product chocolate cake from
Gurney’s Inn & Spa.

Nothing Regular At The Café
EWCOMER Regulars Music Café is heating up
the nightlife scene in Southampton. In less than a year, Regulars
Music Café, owned by radio magnate John Maguire, his wife
Kate and partner
David Saia has already become a welcoming
destination for music fans, families and folks seeking a good time
with quality food in a casual relaxed what "used to be the Hamptons"
atmosphere.
Good news in these recession weary times and for all
of those out-of-work Wall Streeters who have managed to hold onto
their Hamptons getaways—no $600 bottle service here.
Reasonably priced drinks and a palate and pocket
pleasing menu has made this a major go-to spot for savvy nightlifers
who don’t want to pay the price of a mortgage payment for a night out.
Regulars Music Café has become the cutting edge scene
to hear the best in local – and not so local – talent. From rock to
reggae, country to blues, Regulars serves up an always interesting,
often eclectic roster of musicians, singers and songwriters to an
under served and appreciative community when it comes to live music.
