HE Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
raised $900,000 at a gala dinner for 325 at Sotheby's
New York
. The reception was held amidst incredible Latin American art and
Old Master paintings, but I have to say that most eyes were on the
fashionable ladies who dazzled in their elegant gowns and jewelry.
The chairmen, were especially chic: Mary
Davidson, in a Jackie Rogers apricot tiered gown paired with a
coral jacket and diamond brooch, Constance Casey in a floor
length black gown with pink wrap designed by the Swiss designer
Akris, and Kitty Sherrill in a backless gray halter dress
designed by Sybilla of Madrid.
During dinner Society president Coco Kopelman, in
Chanel’s light pink sheer beaded, slim-fitting gown, and Cancer
Center president/CEO Dr. Harold Varmus, handsome in his
tuxedo, led the award presentations to David H. Koch for
corporate leadership, Dr. George J. Bosl for Medicine, and
James G. Niven for Philanthropy.
Among the guests were Armene Milliken,
Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Joanne and Roberto
de Guardiola, Gail Hilson, Jamee and Peter
Gregory, Caroline Roehm, Perri Peltz and Eric
Ruttenberg, Arie Kopelman, Patsy and Sandy
Warner, Kathy and Andrew Thomas, James D.
Robinson, Pat and William F. Buckley, Jr., Margo
Langenberg.
Also Veronica Hearst, Alexis and
John Waller, Heather and Tom Leeds, Alexia
Hamm
and Baird Ryan, Karin and Tony May,
Barbara McLaughlin, Adrienne and Gigi Vittadini.
Also the honorees’ families: Julia
Koch, Fernanda Niven and her daughters Eugenie and
Fernanda, and Dr. Bosl’s daughter Christine Bosl.
