Edward T. Callaghan
ETCH,
the popular nightspot on New York’s Upper East Side, was the
appropriate setting for a CD launch party for Jamie de Roy &
Friends: Animal Tracks with proceeds benefiting the Humane
Society of New York.
An award- winning cabaret
performer, Jamie is best known for her Jamie de Roy & Friends
cabaret series in New York’s top venues and on television.
Jamie, well liked in the
theater and cabaret communities, had little trouble rounding up
stars for the 16 tunes that comprise Animal Tracks.
Friends like Marian Seldes, Kerry Butler, Emily Skinner and
Barry Kleinbort and about two dozen others jumped at the chance
to create this musical tribute to the animal kingdom.
A musical treat for
children and adults alike, Jamie de Roy & Friends: Animal
Tracks is a playful salute to a wide variety of animal
friends including little lambs and loveable pups, elusive felines
and frisky dolphins, snakes, inchworms and elephants.
The recording showcases
works penned by composers ranging from Broadway greats Richard
Rodgers, Frank Loesser, Kander & Ebb and Stephen Sondheim
to legendary jazz master Duke Ellington and pop music
icons John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Animal Fair editor Wendy
Diamond arrived with Lucky, her tiny white pooch, who
appears with her regularly on CBS-TV.
Also in the canine caring and feline friendly crowd were
Randie Levine Miller, Mary Ellen Winston, Rose and Don
Billings and newscaster Mario Bosquez.
