Celebrating
Basso Fur
HE
stars came out to shine for the 20th anniversary celebration of Dennis
Basso's Fur Fashion Show at the ever-lush Cipriani 42nd
Street. More than 750 of his greatest fans poured into the
place, which had been transformed into a giant runway.
Down the aisles came the
models in glamorous, young, happy, gay, youthful, magical furs for
people of all ages.
Front row were Donald
Trump and Melania Knauss,
Sale Johnson, Denise Rich, Neil and Leba Sedaka, Star Jones,
Patricia Field, Janice Combs, Lorraine Bracco, Becca Thrash (of
the Houston contingent), Suzanne Sapirstein (from
L.A.), Michele and
Larry Herbert, Rick and
Kathy Hilton, Rena Sindi, Serena Boardman and...well,
you get the picture.
The showstopper was the
ever magical Diana Ross who floated down first in a
fitted to the body see-through sequined dress and a glamorous wrap
of coq feathers. For her bow, the divine Diana wore a $250,000
sable—the audience gave her a standing ovation—and for Dennis
too. A fabulous party followed the fashion show for 500 of
Dennis's nearest and dearest. |

Magical Views
WO
of New York's most gracious philanthropists threw open the doors to
their new Park Avenue apartment, in the social world's version of a
"housewarming party." Sheila and Danny Rosenblum, the leading lights of many charities, have drop-dead
floor to ceiling windows revealing the most magical views of the
most beautiful city in the world.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer
joined Neil and
Leba Sedaka, Trish and
Arthur Backal, Dennis Basso and
Michael Cominotti, Dr. Larry and
Sandy Rosenthal...oh, well, the
whole gang was there. |

| Social
Scene Gone Wild
HEN
you participate in New York's social scene, sometimes it feels as if
you go from the divine to the comedy. That’s how I felt going to
the Rugrats Gone Wild!
premiere starring action hero Bruce Willis.
When you think of action
heroes, you think of big men. Bruce is approximately the same
stature as his competitors, Arnold and Stallone, about 5 foot 10 or
11, buffed, but not muscled.
He ambled in with an
entourage of publicists and execs, dressed down in jeans, sweater
and a seabee's woollen hat. He faced the battery of still and
TV cameras with aplomb, but seemed to enjoy the photo op with the
kids and the Rugrats even more.
It was a mix of foster
children from the Edwin
Gould Family Services agency, and VIP kids who made
up the audience. |

Great
Culture
AZZ
at Lincoln Center—what a fabulous, fun, evening
this turned out to be. You don't have to be a longhair or a
balletomane to enjoy New York's greatest cultural center. The
world's greatest jazz musicians can be seen under the flag now
flying there. Wynton Marsalis, and a board of
directors, have transformed this music form into the quintessential
music experience for New Yorkers of all ages.
