METROPOLITAN
MUSEUM OF ART
Goddess: A
Celestial Affair
For Met’s Costume Institute

HERE
was no shortage of heavenly creatures at the spectacular opening
night of Goddess, the new exhibit of the Metropolitan Museum of
Art’s Costume Institute. Mme Diana Vreeland would have
proclaimed “simply dee-vine” as evening co-chair.
Nicole Kidman
arrived in a shimmering one-shoulder gown that would have been the
envy of Venus, and a pair of seven-inch-long glittering diamond
chandelier eardrops!
For extra wattage, she
had fellow Oscar winner Adrien (The Pianist) Brody
on her arm. Look, the girl just can’t have too much sparkle.
Fellow co-chairs were
none too shabby including, Anna Wintour and Gucci’s Tom
Ford – she in a sea of feathers from Dior Couture and he in—natch—Tom
Ford for Gucci.
The annual fete, once the
longtime domain of New York’s society set, has in recent years
– as the saying goes – gone Hollywood.
Yes, there were Carolina
and Reinaldo Herrera, Nan Kemper, Nina Griscom, Cornelia
and C.Z. Guest, but they’ve been joined by a bevy of
beauties from the entertainment industry:
Angie Harman and
hubby Jason Sehorn, Michael J. Fox and wife Tracy Pollan,
Ellen Barkin and hubby Ron Perelman, Diana Ross,
Hillary Swank and husband Chad Lowe, Kim Cattrall,
Claire Danes and Kirsten Dunst. Heavenly! |
