MERICA’S
unheard stories were brought to life as Ms. Foundation for Women
honored unsung heroines at its 13th Annual Gloria Steinem
Awards dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria.
Kristin Davis
of Sex and the City presented an award to Nadia
Marin-Molina, and Lilliam Araujo, of The Workplace
Project based in Hempstead, Long Island.
They have heartbreaking
stories of women who escaped grinding poverty in their home
countries only to find similar poverty as domestic workers in the
U.S. These are the real images of America’s workers.
“We couldn’t exist as a
show without the Ms. Foundation,” Kristin Davis said.
Ms. Foundation, led by
founding president Gloria Steinem and president Marie C.
Wilson, paid tribute to grassroots women leaders who fight to
give voices and faces to the invisible workers plagued by low wages.

Living Wage Campaign among Silicon Valley temp workers in San Jose,
California.
Presenter Glenn Close
remarked, “I love playing women who are instigators, women who
will not take things sitting down.”
Gloria Allred,
the noted attorney, and Kelli Williams of TV’s The
Practice presented an award to Marcy Whitebook and Peggy
Haack of the Center for the Child Care Workforce of Washington,
DC.
