Introducing
John Hobbs
IFE
is always the most glamorous when you’re invited to one of the show homes
of New York. You know you’re
going to see one of the most beautiful apartments, and that champagne (Verve
Cliquot) and caviar (Beluga!) will flow freely.
That’s
how it was to the “introducing John Hobbs to New York society”
that was planned by two great young hostesses – Laura Steinberg and
Georgiana Bronfman. It
was in Georgiana’s home and la belle monde was there.
Large, spacious, elegantly decorated, with more than100 orchid plants
abound, the apartment waited to impress its visitors.
And impressed they were.
John
Hobbs is one of London’s esteemed art and antiques dealers on the
venerable Pimlico Road. After 40 years in the business (he started at 13!), John is
an expert in the field, but only buys “when an object moves me.”
He’s sold to some of the greatest stylemeisters in the world – Givenchy,
Valentino, Mercedes Bass, and Saul Steinberg to name but a few of
his renowned clients.
John
is making the move to New York to develop his business here.
Son Rupert will be handling all day-to-day matters in London.
To
make his debut on the New York scene auspicious, Laura and Georgiana threw
wide their rolodexes and Palm VIIs, and everyone came! The elegant “A” list giant Mica Ertegun stopped by
early. Writers Anthony Haden
Guest and Taki came by to get the latest gossip.
And
most of the gossip was about the divine Luciana Morad.
“Is it her?” or “Is she the one?” and for the
not-in-the-know, “Who is she?” As
you’re all up-to-date on your gossip you’ll know that Luciana is the
mother of Mick Jagger’s latest offspring.
Looking svelte and delectable, Luciana was like honey to a lot of
male bees in that room!
Luciana’s
been quite busy lately. According to the New York Daily News, the Brazilian
model was in a New York family court pleading for $35,000 a month to cover
expenses for raising one-year-old son Lucas. Daddy Mick was absent
from the proceedings, but sent word he'll top out at $5,600.
Mick is known to have seven kids and two grandkids.
